A fresh an fun read about a ferocious battle.
This translation of the Βατραχομυομαχια is quite old — the translator notes in his preface that he wrote it during his army service days, fifty years ago. But it's fresh, reads like to proverbial express train and shows that the ancient greeks had a sense of humour that's not to far from ours.
If you want to read a very old-fashioned, unpoetic translation into English, go to Sacred Texts.
